How to Make a Dutch Costume out of Paper

This is my daughter Sara at a 3rd grade class presentation about holidays around the world. The children were asked to tell something about the country their ancestors came from, and to include something about local traditional costumes.

The traditional costumes and wooden shoes that The Netherlands are often associated with are hardly worn these days. Generations back wooden shoes were more in use as a cheap alternative to leather shoes. Nowadays they are merely worn by farmers if they prefer them to rubber boots. Traditional costumes are only worn in a few local communities that are frequented by tourists for that very reason.
